My love for travel translates to my map creation. My favorite medium for a map is watercolor (or a watercolor digital simulation) because the build up of translucent layers of paint look very natural and very much like the real contures of the earth. Up Close and Personal Below is a look at some "down and dirty" maps I drew into my travel journal while out on the trail. They aren't as beautiful as the samples above, but they speak volumes to me. The top journal page is from a trip to Machu Picchu, Peru where we did a 4 day trek up to the ruins. The second image is my journal entry on a hiking trip through the Grand Canyon.
